Jack Xiong’s research interests include remote sensing instrument calibration and characterization, inter-comparison and validation of Earth-observing sensors, optical/laser spectroscopy and non-linear optics. In addition to his acting duties as the MODIS Science Team Leader, Jack is also the MODIS Characterization Support Team (MCST) Leader and NPP Instrument Characterization Support Team (NICST) Leader.

He received his B.S. in Optical Engineering from the Beijing Institute of Technology, his M.S. in Physics from the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland.
