This map shows the average distribution of water vapor from Earth's surface to the top of the atmosphere during the month of January 2003. It shows the depth of the resulting puddle if all the water vapor in the atmosphere fell down to the Earth's surface. Fifty millimeters (mm) is about 2 inches.
